Natto cheese toast is a quick and easy breakfast that's full of flavor. To make it, place natto, cheese with some stir-fried cabbage onto one slice of bread and toast in your oven until golden brown!

Natto, healthy food made from soybeans is often eaten with rice. But it also goes well on bread or toast.
In this recipe, the cabbage adds sweetness while the sticky natto and thick cheese bring a nice flavor to your taste buds!

📋 Ingredients
Here are the ingredients (amounts are in the recipe card below).

- White bread
- Natto (Use the attached sauce and karashi (Japanese mustard))
- Cabbage
- Shredded cheese
- Salt and pepper
You can use any type of bread you like. French baguette works well too.
🔪Instructions
Let me walk you through how to make it. You can also watch this video.

- Shred cabbage: Divide a cabbage into 4 pieces, remove the stem and shred it. (We only use one-fourth of cabbage)
- Stir fry cabbage: Add some oil to a frying pan, stir fry the cabbage over medium heat, and season with salt and pepper when tender.
- Mix natto: Open the natto pack, add the natto sauce and karashi (Japanese mustard) and mix.
- Combine ingredients: Place the cabbage, natto, and cheese on the bread.
- Toast: Toast in a toaster oven (I use a fish grill) until it turns brown (about 5-7 minutes).

Top with aonori (green laver) or pepper if you like, serve with salad or soup, and enjoy!
It was a little burnt (sorry!) on the corner, but the sweetness of cabbage and the umami of natto is a nice match!
