Wakame avocado salad ingredients.
  • Dried wakame: A dried seaweed that is ready to use after soaking in water. It expands significantly, so you only need a small amount.
  • Avocado: Choose a ripe but firm avocado so it holds its shape when tossed with the other ingredients.
  • Cucumber: Use Japanese cucumbers if possible. They’re long, have thinner skin, and a mild flavor, making them perfect for salads.
  • Ponzu: A citrus-flavored Japanese soy sauce that adds a refreshing, tangy flavor. If you don’t have ponzu, mix 1 teaspoon of soy sauce with a splash of lemon juice or rice vinegar and a pinch of sugar as a quick substitute.
