What Is Wakame?

Wakame has a gentle ocean flavor and a tender texture. Many people may recognize it from miso soup or seaweed salad at Japanese restaurants. Like many seaweeds, it contains minerals and dietary fiber.

Common Forms of Wakame

The most common form of seaweed for home cooking is dried wakame. It is sold as cut wakame, already sliced into small, easy-to-use pieces.
