If you love matcha, this Japanese matcha-flavored granola is for you! Enjoy it over yogurt or mixing it with your favorite milk. You will love the crunchy texture with the aroma of matcha.

Store-bought granola looks healthy, but it contains plenty of additives. It's made with simple ingredients, so I highly recommend making it on your own. Mix ingredients and bake them in the oven. It takes only 15 minutes!
And why not try this matcha green tea granola?! Matcha adds nice green color and aroma. It's well known as a healthy ingredient too.

About this recipe
- Homemade matcha granola
- 7 ingredients
- Cooking time: 15minutes
- Nice aroma of Japanese green tea
- Crunchy and delicious
📋 Ingredients
Here are the ingredients (amounts are in the recipe card below).
- Rolled oats: I recommend old-fashioned rolled oats because you can enjoy the texture.
- Nuts: Almonds, walnuts, pecan nuts, cashew nuts, etc. You can pick whichever you like. I use almonds and walnuts in this recipe.
- Maple syrup: Honey or agave syrup can be used as a substitute.
- Oil: I use taihaku sesame oil, which is raw sesame oil and doesn't smell. You can use any oil that does not have a strong smell or flavor.
- Salt: I use sea salt. Any salt is ok.
- Matcha powder: We use matcha powder made from green tea only. Please note that some matcha powder contains sugar.
- Dry fruits: Raisins, cranberries, goji berries, figs, dates, etc. You can pick whichever you like. I use raisins and cranberries in this recipe.
🔪Instructions
Let me walk you through how to make it step by step. You can also watch this video.
First of all, preheat oven at 180C/356F.
- Nuts: Chop nuts into small pieces.
- Mix ingredients: Put ingredients except for dry fruits in a bowl and mix them.
- Bake: Place a silicone mat on a baking tray, spread the granola on it, and bake for 10 minutes at 180C/356F. (If your oven doesn't heat evenly, bake for 5 minutes, then rotate the baking tray 180 degrees and bake for the remaining 5 minutes. That will bake the granola more evenly without burning.)
- Dry fruits: Cool it down, transfer it to a container and add dry fruits and mix. (Close the lid tight and shake the container, then it's easy to mix.)
Enjoy it over yogurt for breakfast or snacks! It will last at room temperature for a couple of months. (But I'm sure it will be gone within a couple of weeks!)
By the way, if you omit the matcha powder, it will be plain granola.
