Crispy Okra Fries with a Savory Soy Sauce Twist
Print Pin SaveEquipment
- Frying pan 22cm (9 inches)
Ingredients
- 6 Okra
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- ½ clove Garlic, grated
- 3 Tbsp Potato Starch
- Vegetable Oil, for pan frying
- Lemon, Optional
Instructions
- Prepare the Okra: Trim the stems off the okra and remove any tough, black parts from the calyx. Slice the okra into bite-sized pieces.
- Marinate: Combine the okra, grated garlic, and soy sauce in a plastic bag. Seal the bag and gently shake it to coat the okra evenly. Let it marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Pan-fry: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Coat the marinated okra in potato starch, add the okra to the pan, and fry until crispy. Transfer the fried okra to a cooling rack to drain any excess oil.
- Serve: Place the okra fries on a plate and serve with a slice of lemon on the side.

Notes
- Enjoy the okra fries immediately. They tend to become soft and soggy over time, so serve them right away to savor their crispy texture.
- Don’t throw away the leftover marinade sauce; it’s perfect for marinating or stir-frying other vegetables.
