Crispy, golden Okra Fries with a savory soy sauce twist! A quick, satisfying snack packed with flavor and crunch.
Crispy okra fries served on a plate.

Equipment

  • Frying pan 22cm, (9 inches)

Ingredients

  • 6 Okra
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • ½ clove Garlic, grated
  • 3 Tbsp Potato Starch
  • Vegetable Oil, as needed for pan frying
  • Lemon Slices, for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Okra: Trim the stems off the okra and remove any tough, black parts from the calyx. Slice the okra into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Marinate: Combine the okra, grated garlic, and soy sauce in a plastic bag. Seal the bag and gently shake it to coat the okra evenly. Let it marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Pan-fry: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Coat the marinated okra in potato starch, add the okra to the pan, and fry until crispy. Transfer the fried okra to a cooling rack to drain any excess oil.
  4. Serve: Place the okra fries on a plate and serve with a slice of lemon on the side.

Notes

  • Enjoy the okra fries immediately. They tend to become soft and soggy over time, so serve them as soon as possible to savor their crispy texture.
  • Don't throw away the leftover marinade sauce; it’s perfect for marinating or stir-frying other vegetables.
