About Beni Haruka
Beni Haruka (紅はるか) means “far more delicious,” and it really lives up to the name. Introduced in 2010, it quickly became one of Japan’s favorite sweet potatoes for its smooth, golden flesh and rich, sweet flavor. When roasted, it becomes soft, creamy, and naturally sweet, almost like a dessert!

How To Make Yaki Imo
Here’s a quick guide to making roasted sweet potatoes:
- Wash and wrap the sweet potatoes in foil.
- Roast at 160°C (320°F) for about 60 minutes.
- Leave them in the warm oven for an additional 15–20 minutes to bring out maximum sweetness.
The roasting method is the same as my basic Yaki Imo recipe. Check out that post for step-by-step instructions and helpful tips!
