Trying 3 Onigiri from 7-Eleven – Which One’s Best?

Today, I’m having lunch with onigiri from 7-Eleven. Have you ever been to a 7-Eleven in Japan? They have so many types of onigiri—it’s always hard to choose! This time, I picked three to try and see which one’s the best!

Welcome to From Japan with Flavor! This is where I share unique Japanese foods, historical food culture, food trends, and whatever I’m currently exploring—all straight from Japan!

1. Salmon Onigiri

This is the classic salmon onigiri—a staple in any Japanese convenience store. The nori stays crisp, the rice is soft, and the salmon is perfectly salty and flaky. You can’t go wrong with this one—it’s always a solid choice!

2. Ume Hijiki Onigiri

I love this type of onigiri with the ingredients mixed into the rice—simple and without nori. The tangy umeboshi and savory hijiki are two of my favorites, and the barley adds a nice chew and extra fiber. Light, refreshing, and super satisfying!

3. Egg Yolk Sauce Onigiri

It looks simple with no nori, but inside is a rich, creamy egg yolk sauce and savory soy-based seasoning. The bold flavors pair perfectly with the rice—I couldn’t stop eating it!
