This tasty Japanese Tofu Hamburger is made from 100% tofu. If you are looking for a delectable vegetarian dinner recipe, then this dish is an ideal choice!
Prepare Ingredients: Grate ginger. Finely chop the onion and microwave for about 3 minutes.
Make the Tofu Mixture: Put tofu and hijiki in a large bowl and mix them until tofu becomes smooth. Add onions, grated ginger, an egg, panko, salt, and pepper and mix well. Leave the bowl in the fridge for more than 30 minutes.
Make patties: Grab the mixture by hand and make round shape patties.
Pan-fry: Add oil to a frying pan, heat on medium heat, place the patties, and pan-fry each side for about 3 minutes until brown.
Notes
Substitute: Grate ginger would add a little flavor, but you can omit it if you don't have it.
Storage: 3 days in the fridge.
There is no need to press the tofu as the hijiki absorbs the water contained in the tofu.
If the mixture doesn't come together, try adding some panko to bind them.
The seasoning is light, so eat them with a sauce such as a teriyaki sauce, ketchup, or Worcestershire sauce.
