Are you searching for a simple, sweet mochi recipe? This Fried Mochi is perfect for you! You will enjoy the perfect mix of crispy and chewy goodness with only three ingredients!
Fried mochi served on a plate.

Equipment

  • 1 Frying pan

Ingredients

  • 3 pcs Kiri Mochi, 150g
  • Vegetable Oil , for frying
  • Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preparation: Cut the kiri mochi into quarters.
  2. Fry the Mochi: Generously pour oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat. Carefully place the mochi pieces onto the pan and cook until they puff up. Flip them over and cook for a few minutes, ensuring a soft interior. Place them on a wire rack or paper towel to remove excess oil.
  3. Coat with Sugar: Transfer the freshly fried mochi to a sugar-filled bowl. Gently coat each piece with sugar.

Notes

  • Mochi should be enjoyed with caution as a potential choking hazard, especially for the elderly and small children. Cut the mochi into small pieces and chew very well when eating.
  • After frying, place the mochi on a wire rack or paper towels to remove extra oil. This helps keep the crispy texture and prevents the dish from getting too oily.
  • Feel free to customize the recipe by adding various flavors to the sugar. Consider mixing in cacao powder, cinnamon powder, or soybean powder (kinako) for a delightful array of fried mochi flavors!
