Win a May “Vegan: Plant-Based Specialties” Care Package!
The care package includes the following items:
KIRIBOSHI DAIKON (DRIED JAPANESE RADISH STRIPS)

Kiriboshi daikon is made from daikon (Japanese radish), which is harvested in the cold winter months, cut into thin strips, then dried in the sun. This special Kiriboshi daikon is made from a local mountain daikon grown only in Haruno Town in Shizuoka. It is naturally sweeter than regular daikon, with no bitterness.
If you are not sure how to cook it, try this easy Kriboshi Daikon Salad.
SHIITAKE MUSHROOM PASTE

Shiitake’s earthy, savory flavors are seasoned with roasted onions, garlic, mirin, olive oil, and pepper to create an umami-rich paste that can be used as a vegan substitute for anchovy paste.
It's also delicious to spread on toast, using it as a substitute for jam, or putting it on top of a bowl of rice.
KOJI CURRY (MILD)

Curry rice (pronounced karē raisu) is one of Japan’s ultimate comfort foods. More sweet than spicy, Japanese curry is easy to make yet deliciously satisfying. This special curry powder uses the power of koji, a traditional Japanese fermenting microorganism, to intensify and enhance the flavors of the ingredients included.
Please give it a try with starchy Japanese rice! You can learn How To Cook Japanese Rice here!
GOMADOFU (SESAME TOFU) STEAK

Gomadofu (or goma tofu) is a silky smooth side dish that can be found as part of the vegan Buddhist cuisine known as Shojin Ryori. Not made from soybeans like typical tofu, gomadofu is actually made from goma (sesame seeds) combined with starch to thicken it into a nutty dish.
ORGANIC BURDOCK TEA (Caffeine-free)

In this naturally sweet, smooth-tasting tea, 100% organic gobo (burdock root) is washed and peeled one by one by hand before being dried in the warm Kagoshima sun. The whole burdock is used, including the skin, to include all the nutritional benefits such as anti-aging antioxidants, polyphenols, and dietary fiber.
HYŌROKU MOCHI CANDY

Hyōrokumochi is a local sweet made and sold exclusively by Seika Shokuhin in Kagoshima Prefecture and can only be purchased in stores throughout Kyushu. It has the soft, chewy taste of mochi to which white sweet bean paste, nutty kinako (soybean flour), umami-rich dried nori powder, and bittersweet green tea are added.
Special Discount for Chef JA Cooks Readers!
