When I made a lot of cinnamon rolls, i thought it would be a good idea to roll it with something else! I decided to try it with blueberries and it was delicious.
I've never learned how to make bread professionally, so I don't have any specialized knowledge. But i can tell you easy way to make bread at home, no complex process, no special technique is required.
It ’s hard to kneed dough by hands sometime. If you have a home bakery, it is great! Let the machine do the hard work making a bread dough.
I wanted to write about the essential tools for making bread, but it is gonna be a long post, so I will put it together in a separate post.
Let's make a roll!
How to make Blueberry Roll
Knead dough⇨Initial rise
First, make basic dough. Mix all ingredients except blueberries. It is convenient to use a kneading board or mat, but if you don't have it, you can do it in a large bowl.
If you knead with hands, it would be tough to use only one hand so better to use both hands alternately.
If you knead for about 10 to 15 minutes, gluten will be formed and you will have fluffy nice bread as a result. If you don't knead enough, it will not rise and end up with thin hard bread.
If you have a home bakery, let the machine do it then you can relax.
When the kneading process is finished, place the dough in a bowl and cover with lid or wrap to prevent it from drying out. And leave it in a warm place. It will rise in about an hour.
Prep for blueberries
Prepare frozen blueberries while rising. Place frozen blueberries in a plate and warm it up in microwave for 1-2 minutes. Crush lightly with a masher to make an instant blueberry jam.
If you like sweeter, add some sugar.
If you use fresh blueberries, just skip microwave step and follow the rest of the steps.
Shaping ⇨ Secondary rise
When rising is over, punch the dough down with your fist. Take the dough out, put it on the flat surface.Use a rolling pin to make rectangular shape. And spread the blueberries prepared earlier on the top.
Roll the dough from the edge.Towards the end, blueberries starts escaping so please carefully roll to keep them on the dough as many as possible. Then, close the end of the dough firmly.
Cut it into 8 with scraper or knife.
Place the piece in a large oven dish keeping some space between them.Cover with wrap and wait 30-40mins until they rise doubled
Baking
Once you've come to this point, all you need to do is to bake at 180 degrees for 20mins.
After baking, place the dish on the cooling rack and let it cool. Freshly baked bread is fluffy and always delicious. Hope you enjoy the bread with your family.
